Daily Scripture & Questions

I Timothy 5-6; Titus 1-3  What are the descriptions of a godly woman that we can glean from the qualifications for widows who would be provided for by the church? From 5:17-25, how should elders in the church be honored? If elders persist in sin, how should this be handled? How should masters be treated (6:1-2)? How does that compare with how you regard your boss at work? The false teachers seem to struggle with the desire to be rich (among other things) as seen in 6:3-10. Why is discontentment so dangerous? What is the man of God (Timothy) challenged to do (6:11-16)? How would you apply this stirring challenge to your life today? Paul writes another younger pastor, Titus, about his ministry on the island of Crete. He was challenged to rebuke the false teachers (Titus 1:10-16) while teaching what accords with healthy doctrine (2:11 ff). How is Titus 3:3-7 a powerful summary of the good news of salvation offered to us in Jesus Christ?

Biblical Prayer Focus

Psalm 71:17-18  “O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.”

Seek the Lord on behalf of those you know who are growing older, especially those who have walked with God for a long time. Ask that they be given a deep confidence in God and a clear testimony to the next generation. Also pray for those who have not trusted Christ, that the Lord would graciously knock one more time on the door to their hearts.
