Daily Scripture & Questions

Matthew 1; Luke 2:1-38 If you have been doing the readings for a while, many of the names in Jesus’ genealogy will be familiar. What is amazing is the reference to the women and Gentiles, which wouldn’t have fit the culture of the day. The passage from Luke is what many of us read together on Christmas morning. Read it slowly and marvel again with the shepherds, Simeon and Anna.

Family Devotions-Scripture & Questions

Read Luke 2:8-20. Shepherds were not considered important people in the first century. Why do you think God would have revealed His glory to them? Who on earth will experience peace? What does it take to please God?

Biblical Prayer Focus

Ephesians 6:10-12 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ask for clarity to see the devil’s schemes for what they are and for the Spirit’s power to do battle with those that we cannot see.
