Daily Scripture & Questions

Matthew 3; Mark 1; Luke 3 What was John the Baptist’s message? How did he prepare the way for Jesus? What does his illustration of the winnowing fork (Luke 3:17) teach us about the ministry of Jesus? At the end of Luke 3, there is another genealogy of Jesus. It seems that Matthew traces the line of royal succession, while Luke traces the physical descent of Jesus. Both lines converge at Joseph.

Family Devotions-Scripture & Questions

Read Luke 3:7-14. What is repentance? What are the fruits of repentance (the fruits in keeping with repentance)? Do you think that we can be sorry that we were caught doing something wrong and still not really be repentant? Can we be really repentant in our hearts and not have it show up in our lives (in the fruit of our lives)?

Biblical Prayer Focus

I Thessalonians 1:2-5a  “We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction.”

Give thanks to God for fellow believers whose faith is clearly being “worked out” into their lives in the power of the Holy Spirit. Ask for His help for those for whom this is not fully true.
