Baptism: We celebrate with Ben Bishop, who will be baptized this morning. If you are interested in learning more about baptism, please contact the office. It is required that you meet with one of the pastors/elders and discuss what baptism means before you will be considered as a candidate. The next baptismal service is planned for Sunday, March 3.
Women of Newaygo Campus: A women’s potluck luncheon event has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 9, from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. The goal will be to discuss women’s ministry survey results and summary, discuss follow up from the Gathering event in Big Rapids, along with plans for Newaygo women in 2019. Exploring Trinity Fellowship: Are you interested in learning more about Trinity Fellowship? There will be an “Exploring Trinity Fellowship” series of classes at the Big Rapids campus. They will be at 10:45 am, in Room 113, starting on Sunday, February 10, and running for six weeks. The dates for classes at Newaygo campus have not been set yet but let the office know if you are interested. These classes are required for membership but are open to anyone who just wants to learn more about our Mission, Values, Statement of Faith, and ministries. Please call the office (231-796-2600) to RSVP so an adequate number of materials can be prepared.
The Peace initiative has launched, and kids are memorizing scriptures! Many children memorizing many verses means we would love some help listening! For the next eight weeks good listeners are needed just prior to class (10:30-10:50) , and at the end of the class period (11:55-12:10) to encourage and reward student’s progress. We are also looking for a couple of Bible Buck shop-keepers who will be available at the end of 2nd service. CFK clearance required. Call the office or Email email@example.com.
Ministry Opportunities: Are you a “people person”? Do you enjoy meeting new people? We are looking for individuals to join the Connections Team. Trinity Kids’ Volunteers Needed: Between snowbirds, changing FSU schedules, and health issues, our nurseries and Preschool program schedule looks a little like Swiss cheese. We NEED team members to serve once or twice a month in nursery (ages birth-2) and preschool (ages 3-K). Please stop by the CM guide desk and give us your information, and we will get you on board. Dates needed: Feb 17 (1) for infant nursery, Feb 24 and March 24 (1) for 3-year-olds and March 3 and 10 (1) for Young 5s. The TODDLER NURSERY has the minimum amount of volunteers but could use extra hands.
Volunteers Needed for Vertical Classes: Are you passionate about God’s Word? Do you want to teach the Truth of Scripture to the next generation of believers in a small group setting? If so, Powerhouse Student Ministries is in need of volunteers to help with Sunday morning Vertical classes for 6th-8th grade students! We meet during second service in the Outback where we have breakfast together, dive into the truth of God’s Word, and apply it to our lives. Talk to Trevor or Andrew for more information.
Women’s Ministry Nursery Volunteers: Caring for Kids approved volunteers are needed every other Tuesday morning from 9:00-11:00 am, starting February 12. CFK volunteers are also needed every other Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:00 pm, beginning February 5. Call the office for more information.
Baby Bottle Boomerang: Life Resources of Northern Michigan and Insight Pregnancy Serves are local, life-affirming ministries. If you have taken a baby bottle to fill with your spare change, please remember to return your filled bottle to the church NO LATER than Sunday, February 10.
Missions Committee Need: The Missions Committee is in need of a secretary. If you have secretarial skills and a heart for missions, we would love to chat with you about our open position. Please contact the Big Rapids Church office at 796-2600 for more information.
Lost and Found: We have an assortment of water bottles, articles of clothing, dishes, etc. that have been left behind. Please check the lost and found shelves, located in the office wing, to see if anything belongs to you or your child. Items not claimed by today will be donated or discarded.
Reading Glasses/Keys: There are several pairs of reading glasses and a glasses lense in the office that have been “found.” Please check to see if they belong to you by February 24. Items not claimed will be donated. A set of keys was also found in the parking lot last Sunday that have been placed in the office.
Moms in Prayer: Schools are back in session and women are coming together in prayer for their children and schools. We invite you to join us! There are groups praying for several area schools including Ferris State University. Find out more by going to www.MomsInPrayer.org.
SLD Read, a nonprofit that serves those who struggle with reading, needs an office volunteer for 4 to 6 hours a week. It would be helpful if he/she had experience with copy machines and Microsoft Word and Excel.
Mecosta/Osceola Right to Life, Inc. is once again sponsoring an oratory contest for high school (grades 9-12) students. The participants are to research, write and present a 5-7 minute speech on abortion, euthanasia, infanticide or stem cell research/cloning. The contest date is March 12 with an application deadline of March 1. A copy of the speech is due March 6. There are cash awards for participants and for first, second and third place finishers. The first place winner will advance to the state contest on April 27. For more information, contact the church office.
