Laurie King was born and raised on a farm in Clarksville, Michigan with her parents and seven brothers and sisters. She graduated from Lakewood High School and then attended Grand Rapids Junior College where she received an Associate’s Degree in Business. Laurie grew up attending church with her family and, as a child, trusted in Jesus as her Savior. However, during her senior year of high school, while attending a gospel concert, she had a greater understanding of what Christ had done for her and rededicated her life to Christ.
Laurie and her husband, Jim, were married in 1983 and have two children: Angela (1986), who lives in Big Rapids and works at the hospital in Big Rapids; and Kayla (1989), who was recently married to Mike Cousineau. They currently live in South Carolina where Kayla is a High School Spanish Teacher. Laurie moved to Big Rapids with her husband, Jim, and their daughters in 1992. She began serving as an Administrative Assistant in the church office in 1999. She has also enjoyed participating in choir; being a leader on two PowerHouse adventure bike trips and serving in the church nurseries among other things. Her husband, Jim, is an elder and oversees Care Ministries. Laurie enjoys spending time with her family, playing games, walking, hiking (especially in the mountains) and biking.
