Daily Scripture & Questions

Daniel 10-12 These three chapters have further visions that help believers know that God is in control of history. They form a single vision received in 536 BC. What does chapter ten tell us about the spiritual dynamic behind (above) the earthly politics that we see? Chapter 11 gives many specifics of history from Daniel’s time until the end of the world. A good study Bible, like the English Standard Version study Bible, will help you to follow the outline. The horror of the reign of Antiochus IV Epiphanes (who ruled from 175-164 BC) begins in Daniel 11:21. He becomes a picture of what the anti-Christ at the end of history will be like with the end of chapter 11 and then chapter 12 taking us to the time of the end. Why were these visions given (see 11:32-35; 12:10)? How can they bring a calm urgency to our hearts as we see world politics getting out of control?

Family Devotions-Scripture & Questions

Read Daniel 12:1-13. Daniel is given visions of the future. Some of the things have already taken place (before Jesus’ birth), but some of the things are still to come. As Daniel sees the terrible persecution of God’s people that is to come, how can he continue to have hope and live faithfully to God (see 12:1-3, 10, 13)? Have you purified and prepared yourself to stand strong even if things get really bad for the followers of Jesus?

Biblical Prayer Focus

John 17:20-21 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”

Seek with Jesus the heavenly Father, asking that your family and your church (and all Christians) might be truly one. Ask the LORD to send such a unity that the world around us would come to know that the Father sent the Son for their salvation.
