What I Enjoy
Living in the joy of salvation, spending time with my husband, Trevor, studying God’s Word, having conversations laced with ideas, seeing others discover Truth, knowing my kids and others’ kids love Jesus, playing outside, and having time to be creative

How I Came to Have Eternal Life
John 17:3 “Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.”
Christmas Eve of my 6th grade year was the night I understood that Jesus paid the price for my sin. As a young girl, two things broke my heart that night: my ugly sinfulness and the suffering that Christ endured. I responded to the Pastor’s offer to publicly declare my surrender to Jesus and began a youthful season of boldly sharing the Gospel. Through my teen and college years, I had many who discipled me, and I have been learning what it means to live in Christ ever since.

How I Came to Trinity Evangelical Free Church

With my husband and three children, we began attending Trinity in 2010. We got involved with the Powerhouse Youth Ministry, and connected with the Trinity community. In 2014, God shook things up and asked us to suspend homeschooling and enroll our three teens in the local charter school. Simultaneously, Trinity was going through a transition in Children’s Ministry leadership, and I believed God was calling me to use the gifts and talents He’d given to serve as the director. God always has a plan!

Erin Vargo was born and raised in Michigan and is the youngest of her and her sister. Erin began attending church when she was 12 years old and through youth group regularly, she began to learn the Truth of the Gospel. When she was around 14, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Throughout her high school years and beyond, her love for the Lord has continued to grow.

God has placed a passion within her heart for youth and children, and as a result of that she began serving in Children's Ministry and leading small groups for middle school girls while still in high school. God worked strongly in  her heart as a youth and she desires to have God use her to draw children to Jesus.

In 2014, Erin came to Big Rapids to work at Cran-Hill Ranch which soon led to an internship with Powerhouse at Trinity for a year. Little did she know God was going to keep her here!

Erin is really excited to join the Trinity Kids team and  to be a part of the ministry here in Big Rapids. She has already seen God on the move and can't wait to see what He continues to do here!

Captain Canada Captain King

Captain Canada comes from the prairies of Southern Alberta, Canada. The nearest ocean was hundreds of miles away. Every once in a while, even as a small boy, Captain Canada would smell a strange and different aroma in the air, as the winds blew over the Rocky Mountains. The salt smell of the ocean called Captain Canada to leave the prairies and sail on the oceans exploring God’s beautiful and big world. He sailed to many countries telling boys and girls that Jesus loves them very much.

Favorite Verse: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord..."
Colossians 3:23a

As soon as Captain King could take the ship's helm and reach the wheel, he took control and set his own course, wanting to go wherever he wanted and to do things his way.  Unfortunately, he soon found that he was drifting aimlessly to nowhere and he realized he was lost.  Now he has invited Jesus into his life -- Jesus is his King, His Word is Captain King's compass, and His Spirit sets his course.  Now the world is his as he sails with Jesus every day, no matter what the weather or what he sees on the horizon.

Favorite Verse: "We must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it."
Hebrews 2:1

Captain Paddy Captain Rassy
Captain Paddy O'Shea was born and raised on the Emerald Isle of Ireland, near the coast. From a young age he had a love for the open sea and for the Creator who ruled over it. He loves to explore God's creation where no captain has explored before and to bring the Love and Truth of Christ wherever he goes. He especially loves a lot of active, joyful, and God-glorifying worship and dancing aboard his ship! Every once in a while he'll even break out in a little Irish Jig with all the wee laddies and lassies who choose to join him.

Favorite Verse: "For the joy of the Lord is your strength."
Nehemiah 8:10b
