What is marriage?
Marriage is an institution designed by God for the healthy functioning of society.
Marriage is a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman that involves
physical, emotional, and spiritual intimacy. In the beginning of history, the Bible records
the marriage of Adam and Eve as a pattern for later time, “For this reason a man will
leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh”
(Genesis 2:24). The sanctity of marriage is an image also used to describe the relationship
between Jesus Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5: 31-21).
Who can be married at Trinity Fellowship?
Since marriage was ordained by God and is a lifelong commitment, the responsibility of
the church is to hold marriage in high regard. A Christian marriage is one in which both
the bride and groom are believers in Jesus Christ. At Trinity Fellowship, we will not
marry a couple in which one person is a Christian and the other is not. Scripture warns
against this practice, “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do
righteousness and unrighteousness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have
with darkness?” (2 Cor. 6:14).
Weddings at Trinity are normally reserved for those who are regularly attending Trinity
Fellowship, are members of Trinity Fellowship, or their immediate family members. We
encourage those who are attending another church to pursue wedding plans within that
church. However, if a couple that does not attend Trinity desires to be married at Trinity,
we ask that you provide equivalent premarital counseling materials and interview with
one of the pastoral staff. We also ask that those who are seeking remarriage arrange an
interview with the pastoral staff.
What is Marital Mentoring?
All couples who get married at Trinity must go through the Marital Mentoring curriculum
as part of their premarital counseling. Many of the problems couples encounter in
marriage can be handled much better with adequate pre-marital counseling. The Marital
Mentoring curriculum helps couples identify at an early stage issues that could cause
difficulties in the future. The Marital Mentoring process also teaches couples the biblical
principles necessary for dealing with finances, child-rearing, personality differences, and
conflict management. The third strength of the Marital Mentoring process is that couples
are paired with a “mentor couple” who can personalize the instruction and provide prayer
and emotional support to the couple seeking to be married.
How do I reserve the building for a wedding?
Weddings for those who are regular attendees of Trinity Fellowship can be reserved at
anytime. Weddings for those who do not attend Trinity cannot be reserved more than six
months in advance.
What is the cost?
Please call the church office to discuss the cost of reserving the church facilities. It is the
responsibility of those reserving the facility to provide their own musicians and readers
and to pay an honorarium to these individuals as well as to the pastor that they have
performing the marriage ceremony.
Does Trinity Fellowship provide a wedding coordinator?
We do not have a wedding coordinator. Therefore, should you decide to reserve the
facility, your main contact will be the Trinity Fellowship office staff.
If you have any further questions please call the church office at (231) 796-2600.
