Daily Scripture & Questions
Acts 20:1-3; Romans 1-3 During Paul's three-month layover in Corinth (in Greece), he wrote the letter to the Romans.  At the end of that letter, he explains his plans to bring the relief offering to the Jerusalem church and then visit Rome on his way to Spain. Why is Paul not ashamed of the gospel (1:16-17)?  To appreciate the good news, we must first understand how bad the bad news is.  In Romans 1:18-32, we read that three times God "gave them up" to their sin because the people did not prize and praise Him as the Creator and Giver of every good thing.  How will the Gentile, who does not have the law of God, be judged (Romans 2:12-16)?  The Jews boasted that they had the Law, but is that of any use if one doesn't keep the Law (2:17-29)?  Is everyone a sinner and accountable to God (3:9-20)?  Since no one keeps the law perfectly, none are righteous on account of one’s works.  How then can someone be made right with God (3:21-26)?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read Romans 3:9-26. Is there anyone who is righteous (in right standing before God) based on their own works? Does everyone deserve to be held accountable for their sins? Do you? How did a righteous God make it possible for unrighteous people, like us, to be made righteous by faith, receiving it as a gift that is unearned and undeserved? Have you received this gift?

Biblical Prayer Focus
Psalm 79:8-10  Do not remember against us our former iniquities; let your compassion come speedily to meet us, for we are brought very low.  Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us, and atone for our sins, for your name's sake!  Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”  Let the avenging of the outpoured blood of your servants be known among the nations before our eyes!

Rejoice that the Lord, because of the work of Jesus on the cross and by His resurrection, does not hold the sins of a believer against them.  Ask that we would be empowered to glorify His name and witness to the miracle of His atonement for our sins through Christ.
